The week before Thanksgiving always hits with big feelings, big stories, and big reasons to be grateful—and this one’s no different. We’re coming off an electric Brain Candy #72, gearing up for our Shop Small Weekend celebration, stacking the calendar with creative community events, dropping fresh BrainScan and Final Order Report episodes, and rolling into Wednesday with a massive lineup of new comics—including some heavy-hitting spotlight titles you won’t want to miss. Let’s dig in.
A Night to Remember: Brain Candy #72
Monday’s Brain Candy was one for the books. The room was packed, the vibes were dialed all the way up, and every presenter brought their A-game. Aubri Adkins was our MC for the event, and did a beautiful job guiding us through the evening. Marbrisa filled the space with rich, atmospheric music; Brittany Rogers delivered poetry that absolutely stunned; and Jennifer Quartararo gave a prose reading that held the room in absolute stillness.
We also want to acknowledge Makayla Rybak, our scheduled visual artist, who had to bow out due to illness—we missed you and hope to see your work shining soon.
And we are truly grateful to our Brain Candy Network, that helped immensly to restart the series, and they closed the evening with a reflection on the legacy of Dan Wickett, co-founder of Brain Candy, whose passion for Detroit’s creative community continues to guide the spirit of this series. Monday’s show felt like exactly the kind of night he’d smile about.

We’re warming up the presses and clearing the tables—Shop Small Weekend returns Fri–Sun, Nov. 28–30!
We can’t spill the details just yet, but we can say this: you’ll definitely want to swing by. Big reveals, special surprises, and plenty of reasons to treat yourself (and your gift list) are on the way.
