Free Comic Book Day at Green Brain Comics 2018

CELEBRATE THE 17th ANNUAL FREE COMIC BOOK DAY AT GREEN BRAIN COMICS!

Each year, the comic book industry joins forces to create special comics printed up just for Free Comic Book Day (FCBD). Over 6 million FCBD comics will be given out around the world at participating comic shops.

We will have almost 50 different titles to choose from, in a multitude of genres, styles, and reading levels.

Just for visiting Green Brain Comics on Saturday, May 5th, you can choose up to 3 different FCBD comics. And there will be opportunities for you to get even more for helping out some worthwhile causes.

You can get up to 2 extra FCBD comics for each of the following donations.
Canned food for Gleaners Community Food Bank,
Gently used books for Friends of the Dearborn Library,
Old cell phones to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.
(Please bring all donations to the front entrance on Michigan Avenue when you enter.)

And finally, you can get one extra FCBD comic for attending that day in a costume. That's a lot of free comics!

A portion of every sale that day will benefit the Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit.

Open Board Game Day

Join us on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1-4pm for another Open Gaming session at Green Brain Comics! Our resident board game gurus will be demonstrating a few choice games.
This time, we're spotlighting Love Letter and Secret Hitler!

Featured Games:
Love Letter
All of the eligible young men (and many of the not-so-young) seek to woo the princess of Tempest. Unfortunately, she has locked herself in the palace, and you must rely on others to take your romantic letters to her. Will yours reach her first?

Secret Hitler
Secret Hitler is a dramatic game of political intrigue and betrayal set in 1930s Germany. Each player is randomly and secretly assigned to be a liberal or a fascist, and one player is Secret Hitler. The fascists coordinate to sow distrust and install their cold-blooded leader; the liberals must find and stop the Secret Hitler before it's too late. The liberal team always has a majority.

All ages welcome! Play any game from our growing library of Demos or bring your own to share.

Green Brain Book Club 2018: Watchmen, Part One

Who watches the Watchmen? Find out at Green Brain Comics when we discuss Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, and John Higgins' seminole work, Watchmen!

The first title in our 2018 Book Club lineup, Watchmen was originally published as a 12-issue DC Comics series from 1986-1987. Over 30 years later, it reigns as one of the highest selling graphic novels ever published and was the only one to appear on Time's 2005 "All-Time Greatest Novels" list.

Watchmen will be the subject of review, discussion, and dissection over the course of three Book Club meetings. Part One will cover chapters 1-4. Join our staff and delve into the fine details of a comics masterwork!

Keep an eye on these event details, as we are trying to add some extra elements into the mix.
