Brain Candy returns for another curated evening of live, original work — a focused arts showcase highlighting writers, musicians, and visual artists in a setting designed to give the work the attention it deserves.
Brain Candy is co-produced by the Dan E. Wickett Legacy Committee, the Brain Candy Network, and Green Brain Comics, continuing a shared commitment to supporting and elevating creative voices in our community.
What You’ll Experience
Brain Candy is not an open mic, not a panel, and not an interactive workshop. It is a curated performance night — structured, intentional, and centered on the art and the artist.
This month’s featured creatives include:
Music - Jeff Spisak
Jeff Spisak is a songwriter from Taylor, Michigan. His work spans a variety of genres. He has released over 25 albums sense 2011. His latest album is “The World’s Trying To Kill Me.”
Poetry - Dom Whitten
Dom Witten is a Black poet raised on the beginning of a one-way street in Detroit, MI and the Co-Executive Director and Program Facilitator of the Poetics Lab. Her work establishes futures with more joy, sass, naps and emotional accuracy.
Prose - Reynaldo Hinojosa
Reynaldo Hinojosa is a Science Fiction & Fantasy writer, poet, and Lead Teaching Artist with the non-profit Literary Arts Organization Inside Out. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he writes stories to build worlds. Drawing inspiration from our current reality, he constructs a heterocosm, a world that combines the fantastic and our everyday world.
Visual Art - Dan Kestler
