Brain Candy is a monthly live showcase celebrating prose, music, poetry, and visual art—an evening built to spotlight creative voices and give the work the attention it deserves.
Co-produced by the Dan E. Wickett Legacy Committee, the Brain Candy Network, and Green Brain Comics, the series continues a shared mission of supporting and elevating artists in our community.

Jake McArthur was born and raised in a rural suburb of Detroit. Embracing the honesty of his grandfather's favorite singer/songwriters at the kitchen table and framed by the noise of a nearby metropolis, Jake's style became that of a true storyteller who understands the energetic pace of modern culture. He's currently embracing stylistic changes while he continues to master his craft by wrapping both hands around commercial accessibility and holding in his heart the echoes of his rich childhood roots. He's a rustic metropolitan fashion plate whose sound is dressed in warm, conversational lyrics.

Edie Roberts is a gender mess blessed with excess anxiety and midwestern disposition. they live in Detroit, MI where they curate events and conversations while dreaming of fully-automated leisure utopias and the end of scarcity.
Prose: Amy Probst
Amy Probst is a champion of the blue-collar intellectual. She prefers to write intuitively and enjoys the surprise of an unfolding story. Amy performs live typewriter poetry, teaches personal story workshops, and hopes to have a novel ready in 2027. She lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Marissa Rubaiai is an interdisciplinary, LGBTQ+, Assyrian, and Mexican-American artist. Her work is deeply rooted in memory, personal experience, healing and human connection.
Host: Tamara Christie
Tamara Christie is a curious, lifelong learner drawn to what helps people thrive through connection and community. With a background in writing and yoga, she’s always chasing new challenges. In 2023, she returned to guitar with fresh focus, building her skills through covers and finding her voice as a songwriter. Her music, influenced by ’90s folk-pop, blends somatic imagery with unexpected lyrical turns.
