There’s something about stepping through the doors at Green Brain that just feels right. The walls hum with color, the shelves are packed with stories waiting to be discovered, and the conversation’s always buzzing—whether it’s about comics, movies, art, or whatever weird thing just dropped this week. It’s more than a shop—it’s a place to reconnect, recharge, and maybe even find that book you didn’t know you needed. If it’s been a minute since your last visit, this week’s a great time to swing back in.
And what a week to join in! 🎨 Drink & Draw is TONIGHT at Downey Brewing Company—bring your favorite pens and sip something tasty while you sketch alongside fellow creatives. Then, this weekend, we’re heading to A2CAF—the Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival—a totally free, family-friendly celebration of comics and creativity at the Downtown Ann Arbor District Library. And back at the shop, Brain Candy returns Monday night, with live art, music, and poetry filling the store with fresh energy. It’s a packed schedule of comics, creativity, and community—and you’re invited to every moment of it!
🧠 This week’s new releases include some seriously exciting debuts:
They Choose Violence #1 introduces Laneka, Deidre, and Karen—three HBCU besties turned career women who take justice into their own hands after witnessing too many injustices left unresolved. This vigilante revenge story is bold, bloody, and biting—with a twist that will leave you eager for the next issue.
Benjamin #1 launches a surreal sci-fi mystery as legendary pulp author Benjamin J. Carp wakes up in 2025 Los Angeles… despite having died in 1982. From the mind of Ben H. Winters and gorgeously drawn by Leomacs, this one’s part Philip K. Dick fever dream, part noir identity crisis, and 100% fascinating.
Cornelius: The Merry Life of a Wretched Dog is weird, sad, and completely unforgettable. Cornelius is a loser, sure—but when a friend goes missing, this cowardly canine stumbles into a noir-ish spiral of guilt, art, and absurdity. Marc Torices delivers a graphic novel that’s both hilarious and horrifying in all the right ways.
Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom #1 kicks off a villainous one-shot series with Victor Von Doom racing to prevent a mysterious new force from claiming Earth’s souls. High-stakes magic, a shadowy new villain, and classic Doom arrogance—what more could you want?
