New Comics for Wednesday, October 7, 2026
/🍂 HELLO, OCTOBER
Well, Brainiacs, here we are. The air is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and suddenly the calendar is full of excuses to watch scary movies, drink something warm, and read comics under a blanket while pretending that mysterious noise outside was definitely just a raccoon.
October has arrived at Green Brain, and the new comics are getting appropriately weird.
Before we get to Wednesday's new releases, we've got a few things coming up around the shop—including our next Drink & Draw, another Brain Candy, and a quick October movie-night recommendation from our pals at the Senate Theater.
So grab your hoodie, your favorite beverage, and let's get into it.
✏️ EAST DEARBORN DRINK & DRAW
Our next East Dearborn Drink & Draw is coming up Friday, October 9 from 7–9pm at Downey Brewing Company!
Co-sponsored by Blick Art Materials – Dearborn, Drink & Draw is our bi-monthly excuse to get together, make some art, and hang out with good people.
And our hosts at Downey Brewing have pretty much nailed the setting: an East Dearborn brewery pouring house-made beer in a converted industrial space that's built for hanging out.
Bring something to draw, paint, crochet etc… Bring a friend. Bring absolutely no artistic credentials whatsoever. That's fine, too.
🧠 BRAIN CANDY #83
Brain Candy returns Monday, October 19 at 7pm with another free evening of music, poetry, prose, and visual art.
Music: Ryan Ladell
Poetry: J.L. Moultrie
Prose: Tamara Christie
Visual Art: Craig Command
Host: Sarah Pazur
Come spend a Monday night feeding your brain with some of the creative folks doing interesting things around our community.
👹 A QUICK HALLOWEEN MOVIE PLUG
Our pals at the Senate Theater are kicking off October with a screening of Drag Me to Hell (2009) this Saturday, October 3 from 8–10:15pm.
If your preferred method of welcoming October involves supernatural curses, screaming, Sam Raimi, and the comforting knowledge that whatever happens to you, at least it isn't happening to you, this might be your kind of Saturday night.

🔎 BRAINSCAN
Every Tuesday at 6:30pm, we sit down with the comics arriving Wednesday morning and take a look at what's worth putting on your radar. BrainScan is part preview, part recommendation, and part excuse for us to spend half an hour talking about comics we love.
We flip through the new releases, talk about the books that caught our attention, and occasionally get distracted by something completely unexpected. That's okay. Comics are weird.
Join us on YouTube and Facebook every Tuesday at 6:30pm. Pull up a chair, grab a beverage, and let us help you figure out what belongs on your Wednesday stack.
Watch BrainScan Live Tues 6:30
📞 LAST CALL
Friday afternoons at 5pm, we take one last look at the upcoming comics hitting Final Order Cutoff and figure out what deserves a little extra attention before the preorder window closes.
Last Call is where we hunt for the new series, #1s, one-shots, jump-on issues, graphic novels, manga, interesting variants, and books that might otherwise get lost in the weekly avalanche.
See something you want? Get your preorder into ComicHub by Sunday at midnight. After that, well... that's why we call it Last Call.
🧙♀️ SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #1
Sabrina is back—and just in time for Halloween. Corinna Bechko and Kano launch a brand-new ongoing series that finds Sabrina dealing with a newly revealed magical birthright while attempting to survive the considerably less supernatural horrors of being sixteen. Then Salem drops a mythical trickster on her doorstep, because apparently homework wasn't enough. Magic, mischief, Halloween, and Salem being Salem? Yeah, this feels like an October comic.
🌲 BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES: HALLOWEEN SPECIAL
Samantha Strong may have left Woodbrook, but her legend has only gotten bigger—and considerably bloodier. Patrick Horvath brings together an absolutely ridiculous lineup of creators for a one-shot of new tales from the world of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees. James Tynion IV, Tony Fleecs, Che Grayson, Dave Wachter, Jared Cullum, Tyler Boss, and Matt Emmons all take a turn around the campfire. Everybody has a Samantha Strong story.
🧛 DINNER DATE #1
Modern dating is already terrifying. Now imagine finding out your date might literally turn you into a vampire. Joanne Starer and Khary Randolph (Sirens of the City) serve up a supernatural rom-com about Syd, a newly minted vampire with an uncontrollable thirst for blood, and Izzy, the rideshare driver she meets by chance. Dating apps are bad enough. At least this one comes with a food chain.
🕷️ MIDNIGHT SPIDER-MAN #1
Phillip Kennedy Johnson and SCIETRONC take Spider-Man somewhere decidedly more monstrous. A young man is transformed into a grotesque spider hybrid when Oscorp pursues the secret to eternal life—and when the corporation starts turning those discoveries into an army of human-animal hybrids, he has to embrace the thing he's become to stop them. This ain't your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
😈 DEMON #1
James Harren writes, draws, and unleashes his own take on Etrigan the Demon in a brand-new epic. Jason Blood has lived far too long, witnessed centuries of Hell's victories, and now finds himself following a tortured, mute wizard while a voice from Hell calls out from somewhere nearby. Harren's art is tailor-made for this kind of monstrous spectacle. If you like your demons BIG, this one's for you.
🧠 Now let's get to the full New Comic List.
That's just a taste of what's arriving this week. From teenage witches and cuddly serial killers to vampire dating disasters, mutant Spider-Men, and one very angry demon, October is wasting absolutely no time getting weird.
