New Comics for Wednesday, October 14, 2026
/🎃 NEW COMICS, STRANGE ENCOUNTERS & HALLOWEEN TROUBLE!
October is hitting its stride, Brainiacs, and the comics are getting appropriately weird. We've got a teenage John Connor enrolling at Riverdale High, a twelve-foot skeleton that's definitely not here to spread Halloween cheer, a monstrous new Venom, and Gotham citizens fighting to survive a botanical nightmare.
You know, the usual.
But before we crack open this week's fresh stack, we've got a few things happening around the neighborhood worth putting on your calendar. Let's get into it!
🎬 SILENTS AT THE SENATE: FAUST (1926)
Our pals at the Senate Theater are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Faust this Saturday, October 17, with a special screening of F. W. Murnau's legendary silent-era fantasy horror film.
Devils, deals, damnation, and a century of cinematic history. That's a pretty fitting Saturday-night activity for October.
Saturday, October 17 • 8–10:30pm
🧠 BRAIN CANDY #83 — MONDAY, OCTOBER 19
Brain Candy returns Monday, October 19, at 7pm with another evening celebrating the creative folks in our community. Come spend your Monday night with a little music, poetry, prose, and visual art. It's free, it's welcoming, and it's a fine way to feed your brain with something besides the usual Monday-night routine.
Music: Ryan Ladell
Poetry: J.L. Moultrie
Prose: Tamara Christie
Visual Art: Craig Command
Host: Sarah Pazur
Come for the art. Stay for the company.
🍬 TRICK OR READ AT GREEN BRAIN — SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24!
Halloween fun is coming to Green Brain! Join us Saturday, October 24 for Trick or Read and score up to THREE specially marked FREE COMICS:
1 free comic just for stopping by!
+1 if you're wearing a costume!
+1 with a purchase!
That's three chances to feed your brain without feeding your wallet. Free comics are available while supplies last, so don't sleep on this one.
And from 2–5pm, take your trick-or-treating adventure to nearby businesses, too! Make a day of it, explore the neighborhood, and help us spread some Halloween fun around East Downtown Dearborn.
Costumes encouraged. Comic book enthusiasm practically mandatory. 🎃
🔎 BRAINSCAN — TUESDAYS AT 6:30PM
Every Tuesday at 6:30pm, we sit down with the comics arriving Wednesday morning and take a look at what's worth putting on your radar. BrainScan is part preview, part recommendation, and part excuse for us to spend half an hour talking about comics we love.
We flip through the new releases, talk about the books that caught our attention, and occasionally get distracted by something completely unexpected. That's okay. Comics are weird.
Join us on YouTube and Facebook every Tuesday at 6:30pm. Pull up a chair, grab a beverage, and let us help you figure out what belongs on your Wednesday stack.
📞 LAST CALL — FRIDAYS AT 5PM
Friday afternoons at 5pm, we take one last look at the upcoming comics hitting Final Order Cutoff and figure out what deserves a little extra attention before the preorder window closes.
Last Call is where we hunt for new series, #1s, one-shots, jump-on issues, graphic novels, manga, interesting variants, and books that might otherwise get lost in the weekly avalanche.
See something you want? Get your preorder into ComicHub by Sunday at midnight. After that, well... that's why we call it Last Call.
🔦 THIS WEEK'S SPOTLIGHTS
🤖 ARCHIE VS. THE TERMINATOR #1
Riverdale has survived teenage drama, romantic triangles, and more milkshakes than any town reasonably should. But a teenage John Connor enrolling at Riverdale High? That's a whole new level of trouble. Rory McConville and Archie veterans Steven and Lily Butler bring together two universes that absolutely should not share a school hallway. The future of humanity may depend on the gang. Poor Jughead.
💀 12-FOOT SKELETON #1
Every neighborhood has that one house that goes a little overboard decorating for Halloween. Lola and Jimmy's neighborhood has a twelve-foot skeleton that goes on a rampage. From Tim Seeley, Aaron Campbell, and Ben Templesmith comes a Halloween horror story mixing childhood trauma, unlikely friendship, slasher-movie chills, and a very large seasonal decoration. Maybe think twice before buying that giant skeleton this year.
🏎️ SPEED RACER: TALES FROM THE ROAD — FRANKENSTEIN'S DRAGSTER
Speed Racer and Racer X find themselves facing a ghastly scavenger that feeds on wrecked racers—and apparently isn't satisfied with the leftovers. This quarterly one-shot delivers a collision of high-speed action and automotive horror, plus backup stories expanding the Speed Racer universe. There's also the debut of a brand-new racer. Fast cars, monster trouble, and a whole lot of horsepower. Start your engines.
🦇 BATMAN: BAD SEEDS — STREETS OF GOTHAM #1
Poison Ivy's superbloom has thrown Gotham into chaos, and while Batman and the Bat-Family race against the clock, ordinary citizens are left to survive the botanical nightmare themselves. Matt Fraction and Mariko Tamaki lead six street-level stories about fear, courage, and everyday people discovering what heroism really means. No gadgets. No Batmobile. No guarantee of survival. Sometimes Gotham's bravest heroes don't wear capes.
🕷️ VENOM #1
Eddie Brock and Venom are back together, and Eddie intends to make the most of their reunion. Writer Charles Soule and artist Tommaso Bianchi launch a new chapter for the iconic symbiote duo, with Eddie determined to be the ultimate host—and the hero he believes he can be. Naturally, he isn't interested in taking advice from other superheroes. They're reunited, they're dangerous, and they're done asking permission.
🧠 READY TO SEE WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
That's our spotlight reel, but there's plenty more waiting in this week's shipment. Whether you're chasing a brand-new series, hunting down the next chapter of a favorite, or looking for something strange enough to make you stop scrolling, we've got more comics to explore.
Let's get to the full New Comic List and see what belongs on your stack this Wednesday!
