New Comic Book Day – March 25, 2026

Spring has officially arrived, and with it comes a calendar that’s bursting at the seams. Between events, community gatherings, and a stacked lineup of new releases, there’s a lot happening both in and around the shop. Let’s get you caught up.

**A Night at the Senate: Sunrise on the Big Screen**

Our friends at the Senate Theater continue their incredible programming with a screening of the silent film masterpiece Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927).

Saturday, March 21 — 8:00–10:00 PM

If you’ve never experienced a silent film in a historic theater setting, this is the one to see. It’s haunting, romantic, and widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.

Brain Candy #77 – A Night of Live Creativity

Brain Candy #77 is just four weeks away, bringing another evening of curated live creativity to the shop.

Co-produced by the Dan E. Wickett Legacy Committee, the Brain Candy Network, and Green Brain Comics, this long-running series continues to showcase a dynamic mix of prose, poetry, music, and visual art in an attentive, welcoming environment.

Brain Candy isn’t about open mics or chaos—it’s about thoughtfully presented work and giving artists the space to be heard. Come settle in and experience something real.

East Dearborn Drink & Draw – April 10

Creativity doesn’t always need a stage—sometimes it just needs a table, some tools, and good company. Join us Friday, April 10 for the next East Dearborn Drink & Draw at Downey Brewing Company, co-hosted with Blick Art Materials. This relaxed, welcoming gathering brings together artists of all skill levels to share ideas, experiment, and enjoy the creative process together.

Work on your own project, sketch freely, or jump into drawing prompts and exercises we’ll have ready. We’ll have art supply samples courtesy of Blick, plenty of inspiration from Green Brain Comics, and a room full of folks making things and swapping ideas. Bring your favorite tools, grab some take-out (Downey is food-friendly), and come ready to create alongside others.

This event takes place every other month, with the next session scheduled for June 12.

Supergirl Takes Over Superman Day – April 18

This year, Supergirl steps into the spotlight for Superman Day.

Saturday, April 18 — 12:00–7:00 PM

We’ll be celebrating with:

• Free specially marked Supergirl and Superman comics
• Special Superman Day edition books available for purchase (while supplies last)
• Discounts on select Supergirl and Superman titles

It’s a perfect entry point for new readers and longtime fans alike.
