Our pals at the Senate Theater are bringing the adrenaline on Friday, September 11 at 8pm with Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 action classic Point Break. Surfing, bank robbery, skydiving, Keanu, Swayze—this movie has absolutely no interest in calming down.

Batman Day is coming up, and we’re getting ready to celebrate! We’ll have the exclusive Batman of Two Worlds comic, other Batman Day exclusives, plus discounts on Batman back issues and graphic novels. Last Call for Final Orders
And then there’s Last Call, arriving Friday afternoons by 5pm. It’s your weekly reminder that future-you is going to be very happy you preordered that thing you almost forgot existed.
The September 2nd new-comic pile is looking very healthy, with wicked kingdoms, dark post-apocalyptic bargains, Hellraiser horrors, Batman and Superman getting Weird Al’d, and Deadpool picking a fight with the Punisher. Basically, something for everyone—and probably several things you didn't know you needed until you saw them on the shelf.

EC CRUEL KINGDOM 2 #1
The blood-soaked fantasy of EC’s Cruel Kingdom returns for another round of swords, sorcery, betrayal, and extremely questionable life choices. David M. Booher, Matt Bors, and Jude Ellison S. Doyle team with Ryan Kelly, Lukas Ketner, and David Lapham for a new collection of twisted medieval nightmares where happy endings are in particularly short supply. If you like your fantasy dark, nasty, and gleefully cruel, sharpen your sword and step inside.

Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen unleash a grim new fantasy about a mother willing to cross just about any line to save her daughter. Rose lives in the shadow of a monstrous Factory, where survival means obedience and the outside world is a deadly mystery. When her daughter is taken, Rose makes a bargain with the terrifying Scarecrow Queen. HELLRAISER: RESURRECTIONS — NEW WOUNDS #1
The puzzle box is back, and you already know this is going to end badly. Hellraiser: Resurrections launches a series of one-shots leading into a new ongoing Hellraiser comic, beginning with an investigation into the mysterious Puzzle Box that opens the door to fresh nightmares. Mike Costa and Paco Camallonga take readers from criminal underworlds to untouchable elites as an investigation spirals into something considerably more horrifying. If you like your horror with hooks, suffering, and cosmic bad decisions, welcome back to Hell.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WEIRD AL WORLDS WEEDEST #1
Batman. Superman. The Fifth Dimension. Weird Al Yankovic. Yes, that is indeed a sentence we get to write. When a mysterious force starts turning the world painfully dull and ordinary, Mr. Mxyzptlk calls in the World's Finest—and apparently Weird Al is the man for the job. Mark Waid, Weird Al Yankovic, and Dan Schoening team up for an oversized one-shot promising superheroes, absurdity, musical comedy, and enough Weird Al energy to make Gotham considerably less grim.
WADE WILSON: DEADPOOL #8
Deadpool has a new mission, a new vehicle, and a target named Frank Castle. What could possibly go wrong? Pretty much everything. “Big Guns” kicks off here as Deadpool and the Punisher find themselves caught in a scramble for the ultimate weapon, with the story continuing in Punisher #8 later this month. Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw are throwing Wade and Frank into the same mess, which is probably the last thing either of them needs—and exactly what we want to see.
