There’s a lot coming together right now—in the shop, in the community, and on the shelves—and this week is a good reminder of how nice it is to have something simple to look forward to. A few events, a stack of new comics, and a chance to step out of the noise for a bit and into something more fun, creative, and just a little bit easier to enjoy.

Brain Candy returns Monday, April 20, bringing another evening of prose, poetry, music, and visual art curated by the Emerging Writers Network.

It’s a relaxed, welcoming space to take in some creative work and spend a Monday evening a little differently.
🎉 Free Comic Book Day Is Getting Close
Saturday, May 2 is coming up fast, and Free Comic Book Day is shaping up to be a full one.
Everyone who comes by gets 3 free FCBD comics just for showing up. If you’d like to grab more, you can bring a donation—non-perishable food for Gleaners Food Bank, support Friends for the Animals of Metro Detroit, or come in costume.
We’ll also have a strong lineup of guest creators, including Arvell Jones, Jim Benton, Sean Peacock, Tameshja Brooks, Koi Tsang, Alexa Arriaga, and Michelangelo Cicerone, plus community partners throughout the day.
Things kick off at 10am with a Mayoral Proclamation, and Friends for the Animals of Metro Detroit will be on-site from 10am–3pm.
It’s one of the best days of the year to stop in, explore, and enjoy the community.

Tuesday at 6:30pm, the signal goes out again.
