The big one is coming, Brainiacs: Batman Day is Saturday, September 19! But before we get to that, we’ve got a few things happening around town—and plenty of comics headed your way Wednesday morning.
🎬 Point Break at the Senate Theater
Our pals at the Senate Theater are throwing Bodhi, Utah, and an irresponsible amount of surfing directly onto the big screen with Point Break (1991) this Friday, September 11, from 8–10:45pm.
If you’ve never seen it in a theater, this is your excuse. If you HAVE seen it in a theater, this is your excuse to see it again.
🦇 BATMAN DAY — SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19!
Batman Day is almost here, Brainiacs, and we're celebrating accordingly.
We'll have the exclusive Batman Day comic, The Batman of Two Worlds, plus a limited quantity of two special Batman Day hardcover editions with variant dust jackets:
Batman (2025) HC Vol. 1: Daylight
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Deluxe Edition
And because Batman Day should involve more Batman stuff than any reasonable person needs, we'll also be giving away Batman masks with qualifying purchases! We've got limited quantities of both Absolute Batman masks and Batman: Hush masks, so while supplies last, you can leave Green Brain looking like you just joined the Bat-family.

✏️ EAST DEARBORN DRINK & DRAW — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
Mark your calendar for another East Dearborn Drink & Draw at Downey Brewing, Friday, October 9, from 7–9pm.
We're co-sponsoring this one with Blick Art Materials – Dearborn, bringing art supplies, drawing, beer, and a room full of people willing to prove that “I can't draw” is mostly an excuse.
Downey Brewing is an East Dearborn brewery pouring house-made beer in a converted industrial space built for hanging out. Come draw some stuff. Drink some stuff. Hang out with some Brainiacs.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: RAVENLOFT #1
Ravenloft is falling apart, and nobody knows why—which seems like exactly the sort of problem you want a monster hunter investigating. Ez D’Avenir heads into the frozen wasteland of Lamordia searching for an undead creature that may hold the answer, only to discover Darklord Viktra Mordenheim is hunting HER. Amy Chu and Ariela Kristantina bring a genre-bending mystery to D&D’s premier horror setting, spanning the Domains of Dread. Gothic horror, monsters, weird fantasy—this one has the ingredients.
THE BIG SHAKEDOWN #1
Los Angeles has suffered the earthquake to end all earthquakes, and five years later the government has decided the city isn't worth rebuilding. Naturally, some people stayed. Ester Blanco, a down-on-her-luck former P.I., gets one last shot at escaping when a desperate father hires her to find his missing daughter. Jordan Blum, Tim Seeley, and Scott Koblish deliver a post-apocalyptic L.A. noir packed with cults, conspiracies, corruption, murder, destruction, and traffic. Chinatown meets the apocalypse? We're listening.
EXQUISITE CORPSES: FOX MASK KILLER #1
Among killers-for-hire, the Fox Mask Killer is feared even by other assassins. She's one of the deadliest people in the business—and now she wants out. Unfortunately, escaping that life isn't going to be easy, and the only person who might help could be the devil herself. Che Grayson, Adam Gorham, Jordie Bellaire, and Becca Carey dig into the tragic backstory of Exquisite Corpses' most emblematic killer. If stylish, morally complicated murder comics are your thing, this one looks dangerous.
ABSOLUTE CASSANDRA CAIN: THE SHADOWS HAND #1
Cassandra Cain gets her own spotlight in this Absolute Universe one-shot, exploring the origin of one of DC's most formidable assassins. After the Joker's bloody rampage through the League of Assassins, Lady Shiva and her daughter emerge from the wreckage—and Cassandra's story becomes intertwined with Selina Kyle, the world's greatest thief. Che Grayson and Matias Bergara are expanding the mythology of Absolute Catwoman while giving one of DC's most fascinating characters a very different history.

The X-Men and 3K have both seen the future of the Age of Revelation—and reached completely opposite conclusions about what it means. Cyclops wants to prevent that future. The Chairman wants to own it. While the X-Men seek the Fantastic Four's help, the White Beast prepares to unleash the X-Virus in a major population center.
